Verkhnyaya Pyshma.

Verkhnyaya Pyshma is the town in Sverdlovsk region which is located at a source of Pyshma River, 15 km to the North from Yekaterinburg.

The beautiful nature of Verkhnyaya Pyshma, the softwood and leafy forests located in outskirts of the town, are favourite resting place for both city dwellers and city visitors. Numerous lakes attract fishermen. Often tourists come to this region in order to see the remains of ancient peoples’ landings, the drawings made on rocks by Neolithic men and ancient table-stones.

Verkhnyaya Pyshma is very interesting also by its architecture. The Temple of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin was constructed at the entrance to the town in 2000. The temple is a monument of modern Russian architecture. The Copper mosque named after Imam Ismail Al Bukhari was built by the Turkish masters in 2002. The mosque has been constructed in Ottoman style. One more place of interest of Verkhnyaya Pyshma is a monastic complex of the Royal Martyrs on Ganina Yama (Ganya’s pit). The thousand of orthodox make annually pilgrimage here.

Those who are interested in history of metallurgical production are recommended to visit museum of local lore. One also can see here the household items of people had lived in these regions till 1950s, as well as reconstruction of their rooms. For those who prefer cultural rest it would be interesting to visit one of the town cultural centers.
